Ancienne cartonnerie Adt

On the site of what is now the ‘Quartier Ville Haute’, the manufacturing workshops, packaging and dispatch departments, and the offices of the ‘Société des Frères Adt’ were once located. A firm of international renown until the First World War, the Adt factory was Forbach’s largest employer during the second half of the 19th century. From

Ancienne maison forestière

The forester’s cottage was built around 1900–1901, at the time the Burghof was being constructed. Owned by Gustave Adt, a wealthy local industrialist, it was intended to house the family of the forester responsible for patrolling the Schlossberg hill.

Centre des congrès du Burghof

It was during the period when Alsace-Moselle was annexed by the German Empire (1870–1918) that the Burghof was built. In 1900, Gustave Adt commissioned the architect Fritz Leidner to build the ‘Burghof’, or castle farm. Today, part of the complex has been converted into the European Congress Centre.

Chapelle Notre-Dame du Perpetuel Secours

The ‘Maria Hilfs Kapelle’ dates back to 1785. It was built on the site of the former chapel in the ‘lower town’. Today, it has become a chapel that is still very popular with the local community.

Château du Schlossberg

First mentioned in 1257, in a deed of donation in favour of the collegiate church of Hombourg-Haut. It comprised a square keep, a curtain wall and a palace, which were extended and fortified over the centuries. By the 14th century, it had taken the form of a Renaissance-style palace-fortress. The round ‘Saareck’ tower was built in 1437, whilst the present octagonal tower dates from 1891. Until the 17th century, the castle underwent a series of alterations

Église Notre-Dame du Rosaire de Marienau

Appointed resident curate in June 1945, Father Adolphe Jacobs worked tirelessly to secure the construction of a new church in the Marienau district. In 1951, the Association for the Construction of the Catholic Church in Marienau was formed, and the project was entrusted to the architect André Le Donné, who designed a truly exemplary model of a modern and cost-effective church.

Église Saint-Rémi

Built to plans by the architect Desgranges and consecrated in 1868 by the Bishop of Metz, Mgr Dupont des Loges. It is a ‘Neo-Gothic’ building in the shape of a Latin cross, which replaced the former churches of Saint Sébastien and Saint Rémi. The former, known as the ‘castle chapel’ and situated at the foot of the Schlossberg, gave its name to the old town of Forbach: the Kappelberg. The former chapel S

Église Sainte-Croix Creutzberg

The layout of the church at Creutzberg is traditional: an entrance drum leads into a nave of silence and prayer, which in turn leads to the chancel. The elongated rectangle of the nave is punctuated by two rows of pillars, dividing it into five bays, each well lit by two semicircular windows on either side.

Parc du Schlossberg

Schlossberg Park is home to more than 80 species of trees, including some exotic varieties such as the Ginkgo biloba; it is a natural masterpiece enjoyed by all visitors. As they stroll along the paths, they will discover the superb rose garden, the open-air theatre, the Burghof – a farmhouse built in 1901 – and the many areas for relaxation and children’s play.
