Handcrafted stoneware pottery After completing my apprenticeship in St Amand-en-Puisaye in the Nièvre (58), the cradle of stoneware pottery in France, I returned to the countryside around Boulogne, where I was born. I’ve been based here for around forty years now, and my passion for the craft remains as strong as ever... Alongside producing functional, wheel-thrown pieces – some of which are irregularly shaped (dishes, bowls, teapots, vases, lamp bases, etc.) – I also create slab-built pieces (such as large platters). The pieces are coated with glazes that I make using various raw materials and oxides. Having turned my attention to new pieces for outdoor display, particularly the creation of sculptures, I am now beginning to scale back my production, focusing on the essentials. The pieces are fired in a gas kiln at 1300 °C using either an oxidising or reducing atmosphere.
