Eglise St Ulrich
rue du Sel, 67600 Bindernheim
The chancel dates from 1499. The nave was extended in 1724. Between 1800 and 1814, Father Louis KREMP, founder of the Congregation of the Sisters of Divine Providence of Ribeauvillé, served as parish priest. He established the first novitiate there. In December 1944, the northern front of the Colmar Pocket came to a standstill between Bindernheim and Neunkirch. The fighting was extremely fierce and the village was bombed. Fourteen shells struck the church. The restoration work took several years after the war. The current interior layout was completed between 1973 and 1974. The monumental painting of Saint Ulrich probably dates from the mid-18th century (last restored in 2019), as do the paintings on the side altars: The one on the left depicts the Virgin Mary (with a medallion above showing Saint Louis de Gonzague). The one on the right depicts the Baptism of Christ (with a medallion above showing Saint Vincent de Paul, patron saint of the Ried Major parish community).
