GAEC du Rebberg
45 rue de la Rose, 67260 Altwiller
Located in Altwiller, the cattle farm has been run by the Bauer family for three generations. After Didier Bauer took over the family farm in 1991, he planned to expand it in 1997 by moving to the outskirts of Altwiller. The farm was redesigned to improve the cattle’s daily lives. Over the years, Mr Bauer devoted his energy to animal welfare, and it was only natural that the farm was certified organic in 2011. Following several training courses and substantial investments, Mr Bauer and his son Ludovic adapted their values and working methods to combine animal and human wellbeing with respect for the environment. In 2020, Didier and Ludovic met Mr Pascal Floquet, a farmer and fellow enthusiast. This meeting gave rise to a new project: to introduce people to milk of exceptional quality by producing organic stirred yoghurt. A year of development, training and fine-tuning followed. Today, a healthy and creamy yoghurt called ‘P’tit Max’ is ready to be enjoyed. Animal and human wellbeing, and respect for the environment - With automated milking, the cows are free and at ease. - Thanks to micro-anaerobic digestion, the planet is greener. Through the production of biogas and organic fertiliser, the farm is moving towards self-sufficiency. - Through alternative veterinary practices, the cows, farmers and the ecosystem are protected. A healthy herd, contented farmers and optimal control of environmental impact: no release of drug residues into the environment or into the milk. Farm shop opening hours: Wednesday from 4.00 pm to 6.30 pm Saturday from 9.00 am to 12.00 pm
