Château de Fleys

2 rue des Fourneaux, 89800 Fleys

CallWebsiteDirections

The history of the Château de Fleys estate began with the arrival of Julien Philippon in Fleys at the end of the 19th century. Originally from Vézelay (Morvan), where he worked as a woodcutter, he settled in the Chablis region and purchased woodland, land and vineyards which still today make up almost the entire estate. Since then, the estate has been passed down from father to son. In 1988, André Philippon purchased Château de Fleys (the estate’s headquarters) along with its 1-hectare vineyard. The building is a hunting lodge dating from the late 17th century, which once belonged to the Lord of Parthenay, a squire to Louis XIV. In 2006, Béatrice and Benoît, André Philippon’s children, had a new, more suitable and modern wine cellar built at 2 Rue des Fourneaux. Today, it is Julien’s great-grandchildren who run the estate (Béatrice, Benoît and Olivier, who joined in 2007), upholding the family tradition whilst also embracing modernisation to achieve even higher quality wines.
