La Cidrerie – Contrebrassens

24 Mar

72 Rue de la Libération, La Cidrerie, 27210 Beuzeville

Musical digressions and sonic surprises centred on Georges Double bassist and singer Pauline Dupuy charms us in this musical performance. Her clear voice soars as she interprets, with tenderness, respect and a touch of mischief, a selection of songs centred on the theme of women and love… Nestled close by her side, on one side the astonishing British musician Michael Wookey with his banjo, small keyboards and other contraptions, and on the other the classy yet slightly offbeat jazz brass duo of Franck Boyron and Aurélien Joly. *Contrebrassens* reveals the musical flavour of the melodies and the depth of the lyrics; yet, in Pauline’s voice, Brassens fades into the background. You come expecting to hear the great Georges, but you leave with a bubbling, imaginative, exuberant quartet – and the cards are reshuffled. “A playfulness that resonates with Brassens’s tender insolence.” L’Humanité “Pauline’s Brassens flows like spring water.” France Culture
