Think of the Bayeux Tapestry, which depicts the preparations for, and subsequent conquest of, England by William, Duke of Normandy, and his troops. Now imagine 63 hand-painted wooden panels, assembled with millimetre precision, faithfully reproducing this 70-metre-long epic tapestry. Unlike the original, this reproduction features a conclusion based on research carried out by the library on Alderney (an Channel Island off the coast of Cherbourg). Members of the Montivillon-based association Fleurs de Bois have devoted a year and a half to this project to restore a jewel of Normandy’s heritage. Wednesday to Sunday, 2 pm to 5 pm (until 6 pm from 1 April)
