‘Chromatic Detours’ examines the status and function of colour in various contemporary conceptual practices. Far from being associated with the mimetic, symbolic or expressive functions to which it is traditionally confined, colour is introduced into the exhibition as a disruptive agent – both semiotic and critical – which unsettles our habitual ways of looking and challenges the practices we associate with images. Through a selection of works by Aurélien Froment, Gianpaolo Pagni and Isabelle Le Minh from the Laurent Fiévet collection of the Kervahut Fund, it becomes a medium for exploring our media, their history, and the evolution of the various forms of language associated with them. A contemporary art initiative by the Kervahut Fund. As part of the ‘Colorama’ event at the Julien Gracq media library.
