19250 Davignac

CallWebsiteDirections

Benoit, known as Pierre Borie, was born on 3 October 1876 in Davignac, the son of Antoine Borie and Marie Benoit, farmers in the village of La Mongie. On 2 July 1903, he married Marie Beynel, who was originally from Ambrugeat. After working in Paris as a butler for a wealthy American, he was introduced to the wine trade by his brother-in-law, Pierre Simandoux. He travelled throughout the Nord, the Pas-de-Calais, Normandy and Belgium, where he built a modern house larger than the family home. This house is one of a number of single-storey buildings, more closely resembling the local farmhouses in appearance.
