La Forêt domaniale de Villecartier

35560 Bazouges-la-Pérouse

CallWebsiteDirections

The Villecartier Forest, a former royal forest covering 1,000 hectares, consists mainly of beech and oak trees. A remnant of the primeval forest that once covered Armorica, it bears witness to the history of the region and its people: Norman invaders, Chouans and Republicans, charcoal burners, clog makers, firewood gatherers and sawmill workers. Today, the forest is a place for discovery and relaxation, with its Récrénature leisure centre. Follow the footpaths to discover the natural, scenic and heritage treasures hidden within the forest: ponds, small monuments, remarkable trees and steep-sided valleys... Adventure seekers, meanwhile, will be delighted by the Parc des Grands Chênes and its treetop adventure course, suitable for all ages. You can also become captain for a day by sailing on the pond in the electric boats at Port Miniature. Shows, entertainment, walks, markets and games are on offer during the summer season. The “Chemin des Grands Chênes” cycle route (starting from Bazouges-la-Pérouse town centre at the Villecartier Tourist Office) passes through the Villecartier forest. Catering available on site.
