Dance: In the Brain

18 Jan

8 Place Oscar Niemeyer, Le Volcan, 76600 Le Havre

Shechter II, a junior company that is renewed every two years, is coming to France with its new show, *In the Brain*. Hofesh Shechter is at the helm of this production. Together with his dancers, he has created a choreography centred on club dancing. What they seek to explore is that state of the body which, whether out of joy, desire or perhaps denial, never stops dancing, never stops celebrating – for hours on end. The result is a sequence of movements brimming with euphoria. Often grouped together, the dancers follow the beat to the letter – that deep, percussive rhythm so characteristic of electronic music. Time and space dissolve to such an extent that one might mistake it for a mystical ritual. The energy – at times nebulous and nocturnal, at times nervous and explosive – flows from body to body, creating an experience worthy of a ballet, capable of transforming chaos into art. Ages 13 and over Duration: 55 mins Booking required
