‘Orukami’ performance – Pavillon-s – Emmanuelle Vo-Dinh. The magic of folding. In Orukami (oru: to fold and kami: paper), three dancers take hold of aluminium-coated capes originally designed to serve as survival ponchos. They transform them, in turn evoking different worlds of the imagination: turning them into fans, tents, rocks, pyramids, metal flowers… these makeshift garments come to life as whimsical, boisterous creatures, characters with improbable shapes, eventually taking the form of surprising puppets.
