Village d'Inières, 12850 Sainte-Radegonde
A church that looks like a fortified castle.
Cut off from any place of refuge, the inhabitants of this village had this remarkable fortress-church built in the 15th century. As in the neighbouring church of Sainte-Radegonde, ‘rooms’ were fitted out in the upper parts of the building to shelter the villagers in the event of danger. An entire floor of these rooms is still visible today (access only during guided tours). Not to be missed in one of the church’s chapels: a sculpted group depicting the Annunciation (15th century) from Rodez Cathedral.
