PAINTING WORKSHOP – PORTRAIT

14 Nov – 15 Nov

Rue de la Place, 34390 Olargues

Els Knockaert offers an intensive portrait-painting course, suitable for both beginners and experienced painters. Through life drawing, exploring different techniques and creating an oil painting, you’ll develop your skills in an inspiring and supportive environment.

This two-day workshop, led by the artist Els Knockaert, offers a complete immersion in the art of portraiture. Designed for both beginners and experienced painters, it covers the essential basics — proportions, perspective and facial structure — whilst exploring a wide variety of techniques: oil, watercolour, acrylic, palette knife and mixed media. The first day begins with sketching from a live model, to learn how to capture the subject’s lines, forms and personality. The afternoon is devoted to exploring different artistic approaches, with a particular focus on creating backgrounds using mixed media. The second day guides you through the creation of an oil portrait on canvas, building on what you learnt the previous day. The course takes place in small groups to ensure personalised support and enable everyone to leave with a finished piece of work. A warm atmosphere, an inspiring setting and attentive teaching make this experience both enriching and accessible. Three good reasons 1. Accessible and personalised learning Small groups and attentive guidance so you can progress at your own pace, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced painter. 2. A complete artistic immersion Sketching from a live model, mixed media, colour theory and creating an oil painting: a rich and structured programme. 3. A creative experience in an inspiring setting A welcoming studio, a supportive atmosphere and the satisfaction of leaving with a finished portrait.
