Eglise Saint-Nicolas

rue de l'Eglise, 67220 Neuve-Église

CallWebsiteDirections

Dedicated to Saint Nicholas, the church is particularly striking for its Romanesque bell tower, which can be seen from across the entire upper valley. Indeed, Neuve Eglise can boast, along with Dieffenbach-au-Val and Fouchy, one of the few bell towers in the Villé Valley dating from the Middle Ages. The present building comprises a rectangular nave attached to the bell tower in 1735. The sacristy also dates from this period and obscures the oculus of the wall-mounted tabernacle situated to the left of the chancel. The stained-glass windows date from 1955 and depict scenes from the life of the Virgin Mary. The organ was installed in 1961.
