Gotlib: Humour That Sticks – Exhibition

11 Jul – 8 Nov

25 Rue de Pontaniou, Médiathèque François Mitterrand, 29200 Brest

A comic book legend is coming to Les Ateliers! A leading figure in French comics, Gotlib has left his mark on several generations with his absurd, irreverent and incredibly modern humour. From *Pilote* to *Fluide Glacial*, he shook up the conventions of the ‘ninth art’ with a freedom of expression that has achieved cult status. Conceived by Julien Solé and Arnaud Le Gouëfflec, this exhibition traces the author’s rich and varied career through original artwork, archive material, period artefacts and nods to his off-the-wall world. Here, visitors can appreciate the finesse of his linework, his eye for detail and his unique way of blending satire, poetry and nonsense. A joyful immersion into the world of a comic book genius, as biting as he is timeless. Guided tours: 10 July, 21 July, 4 and 18 August at 5.00 pm
