Sentier des Iles de Bonny

Chemin de la Cheuille, 45420 Bonny-sur-Loire

CallWebsiteDirections

The Bonny Islands are situated within a group of seasonal islands on the Loire. The site is enclosed between the Loire and the Cheuille, which joins the river at the tip of the islands.

Tucked away on the Îles de Bonny, this walk takes you between the Loire and the Cheuille, where these two rivers meet at the tip of the islands. This 86-hectare site is home to a mosaic of alluvial habitats typical of the Loire’s floodplain, including meadows, alluvial forests, pools and sandy riverbanks. Did you know? Since 2004, the Centre-Val de Loire Nature Conservation Agency has been managing this precious ecosystem, in collaboration with Bonny-sur-Loire Town Council for 30 hectares, and with the authorisation of the Departmental Directorate for Territories for 56 hectares of the public river domain. Starting point: Le Pont-aux-Sœurs, at the foot of the ramparts of Bonny-sur-Loire.
