ÉGLISE ROMANE DE SAINTE-LUCIE
Sainte-Lucie, 48100 Saint-Léger-de-Peyre
A small Romanesque-style building that has weathered the storms of history, the church has been extensively altered. The portal beneath the porch provides access, on the right-hand side, to the single nave, separated from the apse by two pilasters. The heptagonal chevet is decorated with soft-stone modillions, weathered by time, carved with human and animal heads. The belfry, with two superimposed windows, accessible from the outside via a granite staircase, houses two bells. The largest, Marie-Lucie, cast by Joseph Pierre of Avignon, was donated by J.B. Remise and F. Jarousse; Monsignor Remise was its patron. The 12th-century church is being restored by the ‘Friends of Sainte-Lucie’ association.
