On the initiative of Comcom’s Early Years Department, a travelling exhibition on the role of a childminder: “Through the eyes of a childminder: an essential profession and a vocation”. One of the aims of the Relais Petite Enfance is to raise the profile of the childminder’s profession. It was therefore that the Early Years Department, through Sandrine Bourgeois, the Relais coordinator, proposed this project to childminders working in the Minervois and Caroux regions: a photographic exhibition on the working lives of childminders in their care settings, created by the childminders themselves. Sixteen of them took up the challenge: over the course of nearly a year, they took photographs capturing the key moments of their daily lives. A joint selection was made, choosing only those images that best reflected this daily life and the very specific skills associated with this profession. Through these photos, the childminders emphasise that looking after a child means welcoming a family. And welcoming a child into your home means opening your home – and so much more. Come and discover a typical day at a childminder’s home during this travelling exhibition, which will run from the Minervois to the Caroux from 18 November 2025 to 19 February 2026 The exhibition will move to Siran, at the Léon Cordes media centre, from Tuesday 19 November (2.00 pm) to 15 December 2026. This project is supported by the Hérault Family Allowance Fund, as part of the Comprehensive Territorial Agreement, and by the Languedoc Agricultural Social Mutual Fund, as part of the ‘Growing Up in a Rural Environment’ agreement.
