Café Cavalière

Purpose of the association

To promote women’s access to, participation in and representation within the game of chess, a discipline in which they remain largely under-represented today; to create, through regular training sessions, workshops and meet-ups dedicated to its female members, a supportive, safe environment free from pressure to perform, enabling women to discover and progress in chess at their own pace; to organise awareness-raising events, coffee mornings, talks and discussion sessions with guest speakers, which may be open to a wider, mixed audience, in order to raise awareness of women’s participation in chess and build bridges to the wider chess community; to work, more broadly, towards better representation of women in competitions, clubs and governing bodies within the game of chess; to affiliate, where appropriate, with regional and national governing bodies, notably the French Chess Federation (FFE)
