Purpose of the association
To create a framework for community life based on the active responsibility of its members and aimed at fostering bonds of solidarity, friendship and mutual respect amongst them, to promote poker and its many variants, to highlight the game’s values of competition and camaraderie, to secure recognition of poker as a game of semi-chance – that is to say, a game in which skill, strategy and thought are at least as important as chance – and to guard against financial abuses and gambling-related problems
