Une Famille Lozérienne en Voyage au Sénégal
Ispagnac
Purpose of the association
This humanitarian organisation pursues the objective of international solidarity; it operates in the following area: aid to the destitute; more specifically, the organisation’s aim is to assist street children and so-called ‘talibés’ in Senegal by addressing their basic needs for food, healthcare and education; etymologically speaking, a talibé is a pupil or disciple studying the Qur’an; in reality, a talibé is generally a boy aged between 5 and 15, from a poor, often rural family, entrusted by his parents to a Koranic teacher (or marabout) so that the latter may take charge of his religious education; In return for this education, the talibé child must carry out domestic chores and is generally forced to beg on the streets in order to provide for his own needs and those of his teacher; the majority of talibés live in extremely precarious conditions; these Koranic schools (daara) resemble orphanages more than schools. To achieve our objectives, our association intends primarily to: organise a family trip with a humanitarian focus; carry out this trip in its entirety; and foster exchanges
